History of the Eaglesvale Alumni Association
-
The Eaglesvale School Alumni Association was officially established on March 25, 2023, following the ratification of its constitution. The journey toward forming a formal alumni association began earlier, driven by the vision and initiative of alumna Grace Gwitira.
-
In 2018, Grace contacted the then Headmaster, Mr. Dennis Anderson, to inquire whether an official alumni association existed. Upon learning that there was none, she took the initiative to begin the process. On September 28, 2018, she created a WhatsApp group and began drafting the alumni constitution. Initially, she added a small number of alumni she personally knew and encouraged them to invite others in their networks. Through this organic and collaborative approach, the group steadily grew.
-
Prior to this effort, several unofficial alumni groups existed on WhatsApp and Facebook. While these groups were informal, they played an important role in helping extend communication and outreach as momentum toward a formal association grew.
-
Once the draft constitution was prepared, alumni in the WhatsApp group, members in the school’s email database, and the Headmaster were invited to review it and provide feedback. The first official alumni meeting took place on January 4, 2020, during an alumni braai held at the Eaglesvale School pavilion, organized in collaboration with the Headmaster. Those in attendance included the Headmaster, two members of the school board, and several alumni. During this gathering, the constitution was reviewed again and its contents finalized, pending approval by the school board.
-
Shortly thereafter, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted progress, temporarily halting further work on the alumni association. Efforts resumed in 2022, when the Headmaster presented the constitution to the school board and the school attorney. Following minor revisions, the constitution was formally approved.
-
On March 25, 2023, during the second alumni event held at the school, the Eaglesvale Alumni Constitution was officially ratified. Present at this milestone event were Dennis Anderson, Matthew Mangana, Abigail Mabika, Phineas Kujinga, Jan Stander, and other members of the alumni community.
-
At this event, Grace Gwitira was appointed Inaugural Chairperson, with Matthew Mangana serving as Deputy Chairperson. The inaugural leadership team also included Dalu Sibanda, Rumbi Matangira, Jan Stander, and Chengai Ruredzo. Today (Dec 2025) we continue to try to grow the number of alumni registered in the alumni database and to increase collaboration and support of the school.

Alumni scattered all over the world come together.
We combine our knowledge, skills, and resources to accomplish more for our school and the community than we could ever achieve as individuals working alone.
Exclusive Events
Get access to alumni events, reunions, and special gatherings.
Alumni and PTA combine forces with the school.
Our combined forces give us amplified strengths to support current and future students
They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
(Isaiah 40:31 KJV)
Our strengths come together, we impact lives today, and create a legacy that lives far beyond us

Shamila Fernandes
As I stood on the world stage at the World Brachytherapy Congress in Washington, D.C., presenting to over 600 international participants in the plenary session, I remembered Mrs. Walton's words: be clear, let them hear you. Drama lessons from Mrs. Revolta added flair. The applause was telling—they heard.
Memory Bvochora
I am a proud ' Old Valian.' I attended Eaglesvale from Grade 4, until Upper 6! I taught there for 2 years, after university. It was a great time of my life and l have many fond memories of so many people there. Thanks to the teachers who impacted my life and inspired me to become a teacher, too; while also nurturing my love of Art, Music and Drama.
